Do u wet cloth warm open poors then use hands to massage soap on face then?

play so let me get thiss straight

do u first apply flannel to face then use ur hands and massage the soap on ur face for 40 seconds then rinse then apply cold flannel to face 3 timesDo u wet cloth warm open poors then use hands to massage soap on face then?
You don't have to use a washcloth at all, if you don't want to. It does help exfoliate (remove dead skin cells and so on), but it's also a breeding ground for bacteria. Be sure to change your washcloth at least 2x per week if you decide to use one.

I wash my hands, first off. No use in adding other grime to my face when I'm trying to get it clean! Then I splash my face with warm water, apply cleanser, and wash gently all over with circular motion. Then I rinse my face with cool water, and blot dry with a clean towel. I use witch hazel and a cotton pad to get anything else off, and I follow with a light moisturizer, or some Bio-oil.Do u wet cloth warm open poors then use hands to massage soap on face then?
a good way to open up pores is by filling a bowl with boiling hot water grabbing a towel putting you head above the bowl and the towel over you head your pores will open right up.

  • When washing hands in the sink, should soap be applied first then rinse off, or rinse, soap, then rinse off?

If it is liquid soap, the order of application logically does not matter. If, however, it is bar soap, wetting the hands would make applying the soap a hell of a lot easier. When washing hands in the sink, should soap be applied first then rinse off, or rinse, soap, then rinse off?
Wet your hands first, then apply an antibacterial soap. Suds up and scrub all areas of the hands and fingers taking care not to forget between the fingers and under and around the nails. Use a Nail brush and an Orange-wood stick to clean under nails. Rinse with your fingertips pointing east and west so the dirty water does not run up into your sleeves. Take a paper towel and dry thoroughly. Then take another paper towel (dry) to turn off the faucet. Finally use one last dry paper towel to open the bathroom door and discard it as you leave. he whole process should take about 30 seconds. When washing hands in the sink, should soap be applied first then rinse off, or rinse, soap, then rinse off?
    Rinse, Soap, Rinse.

This allows you to get a good foam going, without having to run your hands under the water WITH the soap on your hand until you're ready to rinse.

Plus, if you're using bar soap, it's nearly impossible to clean without a pre-rinse.

Also, the pre-rinse kinda gets some junk off itself, making the soap stage a little more easy.

(Foam is good...it gets soap over a larger area of skin...surgeons get foamy when they scrub up before surgery).
Wet your hands and then apply soap... scrub for 30 seconds and then rinse.

Soap is an emulcifying agent that makes water wetter.

Without water soap is not any good. Soap makes water do it's job better.
    Hand washing

    1 turn on water

    2 rinse hands

    3 apply soap and lather

    4 rinse

5 use paper towel to turn off tap

    6 dry hands
    Rinse, Soap, then Rinse.

Thats all there is too it!
If you cut your hands off you can save a bundle on both soap and water.
Doesn't as long as the soap gets on your hands and off again.
I always rinse my hands under the water first before using the soap.

    My steps:

    -rinse

    -soap

    -rinse off

Is it more effective to wash your hands with just water or would using soap and water kill more microogansisms

Soap kills bacteria by making a hypotonic environment, which cell membranes cannot withstand, resulting in cytolysis (bursting of the cell), thereby effectively killing off much of the harmful microorganisms on the surface in question. (your hand) So obviously soap is much more effective in eliminating germs than plain water.

Hope this was helpfulIs it more effective to wash your hands with just water or would using soap and water kill more microogansisms
Neither. The best thing here is to use Krazy Glue.Is it more effective to wash your hands with just water or would using soap and water kill more microogansisms
If U use just water when washing your hands, U are not washing them, U are just spreading the bacteria around. U must use soap and wash your hands for at least 20 seconds. Pay attention to the webbing between your fingers, your nails and cuticles and any jewelry, also your wrists. Use a single use paper towel for drying. If U use cloth, You are putting anything in that towel onto your hands.
    soap and warm/hot water
Washing your hands doesn't actually KILL the microorganisms, it just gets them off your hands and down the drain. The use of soap makes them slip off instead of sticking on your skin.
Wet you hands. Put soap on your hands. Sing the alphabet song from beginning to end all the while scrubbing. Make sure to get the wrists as well even use a small nail brush if you like. Then when you rinse use the hottest water that you can stand and dry off with a clean towel. During the times that you cannot get to a sink and soap then use the antibacterial hand soap.
    Soap and warm/hot water.

Water just romoves dirt, it doesn't do much to kill or remove the microorganisms.

Think about it. Before doctors started washing their hands with soap, and were just wiping them off with rags and water, they used to spread disease like mad. It's only since they started using soap that they haven't had to worry about transferring an infection from one patient to another.
Washing your hands with plain water accomplishes nothing. It's like squirting a dirty car with a hose. You end up with wet dirt on your car. Washing your hands with soap and water doesn't kill the germs. It washes them away, just like washing the dirt off your car with soap and water and a rag. Of course you rinse both your hands and the car.
yes, one should use soap and warm water to kill more micro -organisms.
Its not possible to use hot enough water to kill any bacteria/germs without scalding your hands or causing first degree burn. Before it can get hot enough you have already pulled your hands out from pain. So using hot/warm water doesnt make any difference compared to using cold water in getting rid of germs. Warm water just feels more comfortable.

    Use Soap.

And like the answer above mine, soap doesnt wash the germs away, soap is designed to Kill germs.

Do you use a wash clothe in the shower or just your hands and soap?

the poufy things scrapes up dirt n oil in ur skin so its cleaner but can dry ur skin out sumtimes. try every other day with and without. nuthin wrong with using ur hands, they're in the shower so they're clean too right? lolDo you use a wash clothe in the shower or just your hands and soap?
a pouf and body washDo you use a wash clothe in the shower or just your hands and soap?
Neither--I use a shower poof (or shower pouf, however you wanna spell it, lol) with my body wash. Works wonders and feels really smooth! It helps your skin a lot, too. :)

    Like this one:

I usually just use my hands. Sometimes I use a loofah. It just depends on what mood I'm in that day.
I use a wash cloth in the shower every day and I get an extra scrubbing with a brush every few days to slough of dry skin. I can't imagine how anyone can get really clean without a wash cloth.
    A HANDS On Guy here!

If there is a 'washcloth' I'll use it to Clean out the Tub after!

It's 'your' body, get to know it.

I know the Ladies like all kinds of 'Poofey' sponges and Brushes with long hadles.....for washing their backs...... ;-x

Not to worry I can reach around to my back....lol....lol...
i use a little poofy thing with shower gel on it!!
lol washcloth ofcourse! i'd feel akward with using just my hands.

How effective is washing my hands with antibacterial soap and cold water, instead of hot water?

You couldn't stand water hot enough to kill germs, so cold is fine. Plain soap is fine too, because it's the friction and rinsing that removes most of the germs. Plain soap, cold water, and a hand sanitizer containing alcohol afterward would be my recommendation. How effective is washing my hands with antibacterial soap and cold water, instead of hot water?
IF YOU CAN WASH YOUR CLOTHES IN COLD WATER GUESS YOU CAN DO THE SAME FOR YOUR HANDS.How effective is washing my hands with antibacterial soap and cold water, instead of hot water?
temperature of water does not effect bacteria removal action of soap.
If its a good antibacterial product no difference shall be between cold and hot water, I have worked in a hospital, we scrubbed with either but I must admit i did use warm water being a bit of a softy
antibacterial soap has been proven to be no better at killing germs and bacteria than using regular soap. Germs and bacteria are more likely to be found in warm water. Cold water suppresses them from living in that environment.

Same reason you don't want to drink warm tap water, especially if you drink it from the shower head.
How effective does it need to be??? If you are doing surgery, then do the hot water. Cooking food = hot water. Getting newspaper ink off your fingers = cold water.
hot water is better it loosen your skin like your ';pores'; or you skin to allow maximum bacteria to be cleaned, killed, and rinsed away same goes for the face your pores tighten when cold
it's still effective, but the hot water has a better chance of killing more germs than cold water...just like cooking food. if you leave meat cold...there's more bacteria than if you cook it...same rule applies for washing your hands. but it really doesn't matter much when it comes down to it in the end
unless the water is boiling hot there is no difference.

What is a good soap to use on your hands after working on a car?

My son's hands get so greasy, nothing worked so far. What is a good soap to use on your hands after working on a car?
    Orange Go-Jo is my favorite.

I mix a little bit of sand (or Oil-Dri) with it, and it works great. What is a good soap to use on your hands after working on a car?
Try this and you will be amazed, just get a can of WD-40 and use it like soap, just spray in hand and rub all the grease off then rinse with water, It is unreal how clean it gets your hands. and then just wash them with regular soap to get the wd smell off of them, Its all I use now to clean my hands.
many people say dawn dish soap works but i have also heard of putting soap on your hands and rub it all in before you work on the car that way the grease is on the soap instead of the hands. or you could just use gojo
Fast Orange. I know you can get it at Autozone. Not sure about Walmart.
any soap but the best ones would probably be detol or anything that eats grease.
it may burn but i know it will work.none clorinated brake cleaner.that stuff will eat any grease.
i use dish soap, and sugar this gets the grit out works great everytime!!!
I have used FastOrange for years and have no plans to use anything else
I'm not sure but they check out how i lost a bunch of weight GLASSCOP.COM

  • When you wash your hands, do the chemicals in the soap absorb through into your bloodstream?

Could chemical absorbtion of anti-bacterial soaps through hand washing manifest as detrimental health problems in people? Do the chemicals bioaccumulate into fat tissue and organs, or do they quickly get expunged out of the body in urine?

And what about regular soap? Should I be afraid of washing my hands too often? I get scared that if I wash my hands more than three or four times a day, I could damage my organs from the chemical contaminants. When you wash your hands, do the chemicals in the soap absorb through into your bloodstream?
Your skin is an effective barrier, there is not much that can be readily absorbed, especially in the short time it takes to wash your hands. The notable exception is using the alcohol based hand cleansers that are now available on the market. Frequent and repeated use can absorb enough alcohol to cause some problems (infrequently). DMSO and some other agents can increase the absorbability of the skin but they are not present in soaps. Of course, mucous membranes are a totally different case. When you wash your hands, do the chemicals in the soap absorb through into your bloodstream?
first off, i have no idea what the first person who responded said.

second, that's something you shouldn't be afraid of. Most liquid hand soaps are antibacterial, and that's what you want. The only way anything can get absorbed into your bloodstream is if it is ingested by the mouth, nose, eyes, or comes contact with an open wound. If you have a cut on your hand, and wash your hands, it's not going to hurt you, it's going to help you. it rids the skin of bacteria and other harmful things like viruses and other germs. You have nothing to fear by washing your hands, and it's not going anywhere near your organs. In fact, to do anything you'd probably have to eat copious amounts of soap.

wash your hands after every trip to the bathroom, before eating, after touching something nasty, and just whenever they feel dirty. it keeps you from getting sick and infecting your body.
NO! but some people think they do like anorexic people do b/c they think there is calories in it but it dosent abvosrb anything of anything is just cleans ur hands and gets washed away

Is it unhealthy to always wash your hands with anti bacterial soap?

if it is what soap do you recommend? Is it unhealthy to always wash your hands with anti bacterial soap?
You're actually better off just using regular soap and staying away from the antibacterial stuff - you're also killing the good bacteria. just try different soaps and see what you like best - my skin is very dry so I stay away from soaps that dry them out more - I use liquid soaps made for moisturizing - just a matter of preference. It really is a matter of lathering up good and rubbing for a little bit - and using clean towels to dry. Doesn't mean you have to use a clean one every time. If someone is sick, they really should use their own towel - which everyone should have anyway. MRSA happens more in the hospitals -Is it unhealthy to always wash your hands with anti bacterial soap?
no. Antibacterial soap is no more effective at killing germs than regular soap. It's all in hand washing technique. The most effective hand washing requires warm water, washing from elbows to fingertips/nails vigorously for at least 30 seconds. You need to work up some lather also.
With the brand-new thing we should worry about, MRSA, I'd wash my hands frequently with any regular anti-bacterial soap. In fact, it's highly recommended. Now if you are speaking of the soap that's usually found in hospitals or clinics, I don't know for sure. Washing hands, washing hands...

Try some rubbing alcohol.=)My little girl used a permanent marker and wrote on her hand... now i can't erase it using soap. what can i do?
Alcoholic Wipes are great for this. You can buy them at your local Target if you are Australian or Walmart if you are American. If you do not have that, make some yourself for free.

You may drink alcohol or someone you know might drink it. Anyway, get your hands on some and tip a bit on a flanel or tissue and rub that texta off!

Remember to wash her hands and yours after using it so she doesnt lick it =] Soon your little girl will be permanant marker free and sparkling clean.

Once she is clean, have a talk to her depending on her age. You could say this for example.

'Hi Sweetie. You know how you put marker on your hands? Well, it is very, very bad for you. It is dangerous. Please do not do it again because if I have to pay for special things to remove it I will not have any money left to buy Dolls (or her favourite food or toy). Good girl. You can go now.'

Hope this helped you, Good Luck xxx
Try wet wipes. I find they get nearly every stain off hands, legs, walls, carpets. Wet wipes have a little oil in them and are even good for removing old paint from different surfaces.

Toothpaste might also work for your daughter's hands.
I would either try rubbing alcohol or hairspray--these usually work for me. :-)
When drying her hand, use a scratchy wash cloth. In a day or so, it will rub off. No chemicals really help.
Unfortunately, only with time will it wear away.
    try fingernail polish remover.

How do you remove egg dye stains from your hands and under your fingernails? soap, dish soap not working?

I've tried alcohol, vinegar, hot water and soap, and hot water and dish soap! Help! How do you remove egg dye stains from your hands and under your fingernails? soap, dish soap not working?
I used vinegar and bleach... most came off.. If you have bleach in like a gel or paste form for dishes use that. I know alot of times when you shampoo your hair something with the shampoo and scrubbing your hands in your hair helps take it off. If that doesn't work, and of the 'buffing' lotions with the sandy stuff in it might help too.How do you remove egg dye stains from your hands and under your fingernails? soap, dish soap not working?
at the store you can buy dish soap with bleach in it try this
    BLEACH
I was a cake decorator for 6 years - my hands were always funny colors! I never found anything that worked except time.
Wash your hands with Clorox and soap and rub together well. It will remove the stains.
just a little clorox in more than a little water will work. put lotion on your hands right after and your skin will be ok.
I too have had that happen, and the only way I was able to get some of it out, was with comet, and I used a scrubbing brush for the nails. Then after make sure you use lots of hand cream. Have a Happy Easter.
    Try borax, it works wonders!
This happened to us just yesterday and after trying many things, we found that ';Dial'; soap worked the best.

Why do people think you should use hand sanitizer when soap and water are available?

WHO, CDC, hell even Purell says soap and water are the best way to go. Hand sanitizer should be use when soap and water are not available.

We do realize that regular soap is ';hand sanitizer'; right? And that good old H2O (water) washes the crap off the skin and down the drain? ';Hand sanitizer just rubs it around and leaves it on the skin. Why do people think you should use hand sanitizer when soap and water are available?
Soap is not a hand sanitizer..it is the friction while washing the hands that eliminate the germs. Hand sanitizer is better than nothing....and it is up to the person as to which method they use.Why do people think you should use hand sanitizer when soap and water are available?
actually hand sanitizers have been found to be just as effective as soap and water. And it's the mechanics of movement that rid you of the organisms on your skin, as the sanitizer dries it lifts the organisms from the skin and the friction of rubbing makes them fall off and onto the floor. So, in a way, sanitizers are more convenient, no turning on and off of water, no worry about paper towels or drying off.... either method works.
Hand sanitizer is 99% Alcohol gel.

Alcohol is used in medical setting to sterilize an area; ie to do a finger stick for blood sugar testing, before an injection, before a blood draw for lab tests...

It is accepted for the use of patient care, can be used in between patients during a med pass for example.

Alcohol gel is a great way to supplement your daily hygiene care and to reduce the spread of germs of any kind, viral or bacterial.
Logically, yes, soap does work better than hand sanitizers. But think about this, soap holds dirt in also, especially if you have one bar you use exclusively for everything(bathing, washing hands, etc),that's a lot of dirt buildup, not to mention highly unsanitary. In a pinch something like fast orange(a degreaser)can be used also(for your hands!)is a pinch-fix. I personally use degreasers for my hands and soap for everything else.
Soap is like a surfactant in that it allows the water to lift debris from the skin and wash it away down the sink drain. It does not sanitize, per se.

An alcohol based cleaner actively destroys live organisms that are on the surface of the skin.

Either will do the job, if applied correctly.

What's yer beef about it, anyway?
Actually, hand sanitizer is better than soap and water. It should be at least 50% alcohol.

I am a student nurse, and we are taught to only wash your hands when they are visibly dirty. The rest of the time we use hand sanitizer.

Constant hand washing can cause tiny breaks in your skin, making you more susceptible to getting a virus.
Soap and water - hand sanitizer kills the good bacteria on your hands as well as the bad.

  • Does washing you hands with water and soap kill sperm?

I was just wondering if by any chance washing your hands with water and soap effectively kills sperm. Thanks.Does washing you hands with water and soap kill sperm?
There's a very good chance that it will. To be sure, you should sing ';Row, row, row, your boat'; twice while scrubbing and once while washing. Besides, sperm only lasts about 10 minutes on a tissue, so it would be even less on your hand.Does washing you hands with water and soap kill sperm?
Yes it does. Hot water will kill it without soap.
I heard Holy water kills it.
Not immediately. To do that, rinse your hands with rubbing alcohol.

Do sperm cells die with alcohol + washing hands with soap?

So here's the picture, I came and wiped the mess with a towel, my fingers never directly touched the semen but probably the moisture from the towel. I cleaned my fingers with alcohol and washed them with soap. Is there a possibility for sperm to live considering the facts I mentioned?Do sperm cells die with alcohol + washing hands with soap?
No. They might live on the towel for a while, until the semen dries up. But on your hands no. Especially if the semen didn't really go on your hands. You're fine.Do sperm cells die with alcohol + washing hands with soap?
No they don't live after you wash up.

They die within minutes of hitting the floor.

Okay, is it possible for sperm to still be on a hand if it was washed with soap and water?

No, the soap killed itOkay, is it possible for sperm to still be on a hand if it was washed with soap and water?
its a low percent of being possble they may be there but there dead no matter what they arent able to go to a womens uterus beacuase once sperm hits the air its dead.so other then that you'll be fine if you wash your hands but i can re assure there gone and they cant fertilize a women.Okay, is it possible for sperm to still be on a hand if it was washed with soap and water?
Not if you wash thoroughly with warm water and soap, it would be impossible for it to exist after a good cleansing of the hands or any part of the body for that matter.
sperm doesnt live for long out of the body,

and if you wash your hands really good then i highly doubt that it will stay on your hands.
no. soap kills sperm and sperm doesn't live long after its out of the body.
    No u idiot.
i heard that water kills sperm so if thats true you have nothing to worry about
    nope.

What's the best way to wash tennis shoes? Washing machine, or hands? Detergent or soap?

I have these tennis shoes that I wear all the time. I paid a lot of money for them, so I want them to look as good as possible. They're pretty dirty, and I want them to look as good as new as possible for as long as possible. So any and all honest help would be nice. Thanks for the help. What's the best way to wash tennis shoes? Washing machine, or hands? Detergent or soap?
maybe saok em then machine wash em if they're really dirtyWhat's the best way to wash tennis shoes? Washing machine, or hands? Detergent or soap?
I have found that the washing machine works just fine, but do not put them in the dryer they can shrink them and after awhile it will start to pull the rubber sole away from the leather. If they are white you can try a toothbrush and some bleach.
if your shoes are white and you want them to shine like theyre brand new, a good trick is the new clorox bleach pen, it works wonders on my kids shoes. also a toothbrush with a bowl of soapy water helps clean shoes without destroying them. best of luck!
depends on fabric: leather or canvas, good luck !!
Depends on what kind of shoes they are really. What kind are they? Are the black? If so hand wash them, if not use the washing machine. But usually if they aren't really dirty you hand wash them with just a little bleach (if they are white). If they aren't just use soap or just run them under water and rub away the dirt. Don't wash them with the laces, get new laces or wash those sepratley in the washing machine.
    washing machine
I'd soak them for a few days in Oxyclean and then scrub the soles using a toothbrush with some Ajax or other sink cleaner (it has bleach) and then throw them in the washer. After they wash just let them air dry. I have done this a lot with mine, and they look almost new when finished.
I wash my leather tennis shoes with soap.

If them are of canvas, do it with a gentle detergent. Not hot water, cold, please.

For those of you who wash your hands alot, whats the best soap to use for dry skin?

I do a lot of cooking, which means my hands are being washed alot, and they tend to dry up and become realy painful. At night I use lotion on them, which helps but as soon as I start washing them a few times, they start to dry out on me.

Please only respond if you know what I am going through. I need a product that honestly works for someone in my situation. Thanks. For those of you who wash your hands alot, whats the best soap to use for dry skin?
Please try this, if you use the liquid hand soap, add a little bit of olive oil and mix it in with the liquid soap. Not too much but just enough to moisturize. Trust me your hands will be soft and always feel hydrated. I know when you are cooking, you cannot apply lotion until you're completely done, I go through the same problem because I too love cooking. Hope it works for you. Good luck. For those of you who wash your hands alot, whats the best soap to use for dry skin?
There is your problem...S-O-A-P!! Most soap when you wash with them, dry out your hands. So get liquid soap

    yes
Sperm can't live outside the body for very long, and yes it is possible to transfer sperm with your hand and become pregnant. It is highly unlikely, but possible. If you wash your hands, you kill the sperm.
Outside the body...sperm will die anyway.

But WHY are you asking this odd question? Nevermind, I don't want to know.
if you wash your hands good enough, that should do.

but why are asking this question? do you intent do masturbate yourself after that? strange question...
Yes sure. But you have to wash effectively.

Flu Prevention - Soap and Water or Hand Sanitizer?

Out of curiousity, I'm wondering what is most productive in preventing the spread of the flu...washing your hands with soap/water, or using the hand sanitizer that ';kills 99.99% of germs';. I know using them both throughout the day would probably be the best, but before cooking for example, would it be better to use the hand sanitizer and kill the germs, or does soap/water work just as well?Flu Prevention - Soap and Water or Hand Sanitizer?
soap and water work better. but remember its not how many times you wash your hands, its when you wash your hands. make sure you wash after using the bathroom, right before you eat. never touch your eyes, mouth, ears, nose...hope that helpsFlu Prevention - Soap and Water or Hand Sanitizer?
Scrubbing for at least 20 seconds with soap and water is preferable to hand sanitizers. Hand sanitizers can be used when soap and water is not available and the hands are not visibly dirty.
Both. Use them both A LOT. But soap and water actually works better, because sanitizers lie. Yeah, they kill germs, but they're made so much of water they can't possible kill as many as they say.
Any time you come in contact with something someone else has touched you are at risk. You should carry hand sanitizer when you are at work or some place you can't go wash your hands. antibacterial hand soap.and hand sanitizer will both do the job. When you are cooking you can use latex gloves. Make sure you wash high traffic areas in the home like doorknobs and the keyboard of the computer. You can use the Lysol spray to disinfect objects you can't wash. When in public use the hand sanitizer after using doorknobs and stuff. Hope this helps.
Both are great. Antimicrobial soap and water handwash after bathroom breaks, before cooking, and when hands are visibly dirty, sanitizer as needed.

    Benjamin, the Infection Control Nurse
If you're fastidious in washing, soap and water works just as well as alcohol-based sanitizers and others. It's just that most people aren't all that concientious about hand-washing.
The best form of Flu protection is an internal disinfectant called; ';The New Silver Solution.'; This stuff kills bad bacteria but leaves the good bacteria intact, so it enhances your own immune system.

It is a 'New Technology' - currently being stockpiled by the US Military against bio-terrorism, that kills all sorts of pathogenic bacteria in 4 different ways, while remaining completely non-toxic to humans and animals.

I have personally given this solution to many people who have had Flu and Colds. In every case, symptoms were resolved within 36-48 hours and the person felt well again.

It is patented and tested by the leading laboratories in each of the pathogenic fields it addresses. Visit the site and look under 'Silver Solution Info' - There's also a link to the patent and an audio and video presentation on the site.

I started making hand made all natural soap.. and would like to try selling it. I love this new hobby of mine ?

I really need a catchy name, and maybe some inexpensive packing ideas. Everytime i find a name i like, I google it, and its already being used.. please help. I need a catchy name. thanks..I started making hand made all natural soap.. and would like to try selling it. I love this new hobby of mine ?
I see a lot of new businesses using the creator's name and the product: like Steffie's Spa Treats, Spa Treats by Steffie, etc. Other names that come to mind: Naturally Clean, Nature Girl Soaps, Pure Bubbles... Even something basic like Natural Crafted Soaps by Steffie, will get the product's message across.

I like the previous idea of wrapping in cellophane and tying in ribbon or raffia, too! Special soaps like your's deserve unique packaging. I started making hand made all natural soap.. and would like to try selling it. I love this new hobby of mine ?
huuuuummmm....the only thing that came to mind was--Natures sudzies....not sure if that will work for you but thats what i thought of-----as far as packaging you could try cellophane gathered over the soap with a ribbon that contrasts the color of the soap--you can get cellophane pretty cheap at like the dollar stores and stuff-good luck!

If there is a bathroom without soap, would it be better to wash your hands with water or not at all?

    and why.

(given that you do not have hand sanitizer)If there is a bathroom without soap, would it be better to wash your hands with water or not at all?
go ahead and wash without soap. most of the benefit comes from the mechanical action of washing and rinsing. the soap just helps make the dirt and germs suspend in the water so they can be rinsed away.If there is a bathroom without soap, would it be better to wash your hands with water or not at all?
You should use water.Hot water as hot as you can stand it. Hot water can kill bacteria depending on the temperature and also if its not hot a high heat temp, a little hot water can loosen the substance on your hand.If the water gets on your hands with no soap and it could possibly slide off whatever is on your hands. If there is paper towels in the restroom wet your hands then dry them off with a paper towel the substance could come off your hands in the paper towel as well. If there is no paper towels then you should just let your hands air dry. You may want to carry a hand bottle of sanitizer. what if someone who was making your food was your position?
Water. Well soap just helps water get the germs off and certainly warm water must help clean your hands just not as well as with soap.
Hot water for at least 20 seconds, with soap would be best, but hot water would kill some germs.

When a soap bar silp out of our hand while taking bath, why does it goes to similar corner evertime?

my bath don't have corners so i cant help youWhen a soap bar silp out of our hand while taking bath, why does it goes to similar corner evertime?
tub on a slope, don't drop the soapWhen a soap bar silp out of our hand while taking bath, why does it goes to similar corner evertime?
It will go to the low point of your tub or shower stall.
Since the constituents of a soap(I am not going into details) are such that the surface tension of the water is reduced. Hence, the soap becomes slippery. All bathrooms have slope down towards the water outlet as water flows from a higher level to a lower level. This slippery soap follows the same path and since water outlets are always situated at corners, the soap move towards the corner.

You must have noticed that your soap always moves towards the water outlet.
because your bathtub must be on a slope... not to mention when u take a shower u face the same way and hold the soap in the same hand everytime.
maybe because you are using the same tub, try some other tubs and see if you get the same result, if you do maybe you can make a movie about the mystery of the soap drop, there is movies about everything else why not that!
The same reson the water always follows the same circular route on the way down the plug hole.

Our physics are creepy, what can I say?

    P.S. Don't drop the soap...
Actually, it seems that whatever the physical explanation is, the true reason is that the soap surely obeys Murphy laws.

The general formula for a Murphy laws is: if anything might go wrong it will go wrong:)
Mine always goes towards the drain; I would assume it's a combination of gravity and the suction of water down the drain.

Why do a lot of hand soaps in stores claim to be ';antibacterial';?

aren't ALL soaps bacterial? isn't the point of soap to kill bacteria? Why do a lot of hand soaps in stores claim to be ';antibacterial';?
Actually, the point of soap ISN';T to be antibacterial, it's to make water clean better. Soaps are sodium or potassium salts of fatty acids which can be derived from oils or fats by reacting them with an alkali and high heat. (Old soap recipes were lye, an alkali, mixed with tallow, which contained the fatty acid) The sodium or potassium salts in the soap help soften the water, and the fat in the soap loosens the dirt, and allows it to be washed away. Soap acts as an emulsifier, or a substance that allows oil and water to combine, and makes it easier to remove oil or grease. The suds produced by soap are a sort of mechanical cleanser, because they suspend dirt, grease and bacteria above the skin and allow them to be rinsed off the skin Soap, by itself, will not destroy germs, but the lye and other ingredients in it create an environment where bacteria won't thrive.

Soaps that claim to be antibacterial generally contain triclosan, which is a bacteria killer, or tetrasodium EDTA, which works because it inactivates the metal ions in bacteria that they need to grow. Some antibacterial liquid soaps contain plain old isopropyl alcohol Not all soaps contain these ingredients, and cannot, therefore, be called anti-bacterial.Why do a lot of hand soaps in stores claim to be ';antibacterial';?
It is a marketing buzzword. People have gone germ-phobic and are creating mutant germs by using all this anti-bacterial crap. Yes, Soap, water and friction get rid of germs.

Can germs grow on hand and face soap [solid] if not used for a long time. eg. 1 year?

Germs are everywhere, but it is nothing to worry about: most of them are harmless. This does not mean that you don't have to keep things clean of course. I would use that soap no problem. Can germs grow on hand and face soap [solid] if not used for a long time. eg. 1 year?
Yes, I don't ever use old soap %26amp; the only kind I do use is Dial Gold, like they sometimes make you use to shower with in hospitals before surgery.(it's antibacterial)Can germs grow on hand and face soap [solid] if not used for a long time. eg. 1 year?
Solid bar soap is actually worse for you to wash your hands and body with than liquid soap because once you wet it and let it sit, bacteria grow due to the warm, moist environment. Even antibacterial soap is not that effective. I would use liquid soap instead.

How can u remove the smell on onions from your hands?soap is not a solution for me?

lemon juice works, but watch out for cuts and sores on your hands, this will hurt like the dickens! How can u remove the smell on onions from your hands?soap is not a solution for me?
rub toothpaste on your hands and then wash it off. You jus need a little bit.
    Suggestion: Try lemon juice.
Lemon juice and water works fine.
Cut up a lemon and squeeze it onto your hands. This really helps. Leaving a great lemony smell.
Cold cream -- believe it ir not
    wear gloves.
rub a lemon over your hands and wash your hands
antibacterial hand lotion, or rubbing alcohol.
pour lemon juice in a dish of water and soak ur hands in it for atleast 10minutes then place ur hand in warm water(quite hot) and then use liquid soap to ward off the smell.
Stainless steel will remove the onion smell when used with cold water. I usually use a knife (not the safest option, but it works) but they make small bars of stainless for this. I take the knife and run it over my hands and fingers under cold water and it takes all or nearly all of the smell away.
Lemon juice. Baking soda mixed in water. Tomato juice.
alcohol wipes or kids wet ones, both soap free and fragranced,ps wet ones are a brand of wipes aimed at children and therefore dermatoligicly tested and safe.also cheap perfume,or aftershave make very good cleaners as they contain alcohol, just spray little on cotton wool and wipe away, you will have the benefit of the aroma to boot.
    soak ur hands in something
Use a metal soap bar like this http://www.scandinaviandetails.com/COOK/鈥?/a>
you can buy a bar of 'metal' soap these get rid of onion smells. citrus juice also works.
You can use this method, Rub the back of a spoon over your hands while under running water.

Can also use a little Baking soda with your soap while washing your hands this will also remove the smell of onions and garlic.

    Remove odors from your hands

It's often difficult to get strong onion, garlic, or fish odors off your hands after preparing a meal. But you'll find these scents are a lot easier to wash off if you rub some distilled vinegar on your hands before and after you slice your vegetables or clean your fish.

    Good Luck !
baking soda rub it onto your hands this neturalises the onion chemicals
This sounds weird but it really works.

Simply wet your hands and then rub your hands up and down the inside of your metal sink. Just try it.

Can I get HIV from washing my hands with soap and some1 put stuff in the dispencer?

or anyting other virus, the soap was funny colored and had stuff in it...so grose, I want to hurt the guy that did it. grrrrCan I get HIV from washing my hands with soap and some1 put stuff in the dispencer?
Soap kills HIV, if someone put something with HIV in there it would kill it instantly. Besides HIV doesn't live long outside the body. Can I get HIV from washing my hands with soap and some1 put stuff in the dispencer?
Are you serious? If you are, no. That is ridiculous. You get viruses like HIV through direct bloodstream infiltration, (unprotected sex, intravenous drug use,) not from washing your hands. The HIV virus is considered to be contained only in semen, blood, pre-ejaculatory fluid, breast milk, and vaginal secretions. There are tiny amounts present in saliva, so tiny that a person would have to consume more than a gallon of ';spit'; to even stand a chance of contracting the virus! The virus also dies within seconds of being out of the body. Unless you are sharing needles, having unprotected sex, get unsanitary (basement) piercings/tattoos, you have nothing to worry about!
HIV can't be transmitted through the skin. It has to enter your bloodstream somehow. You would have to have a break in the skin on your hands. Also, the soap would probably have killed the HIV. HIV doesn't hold up well outside of the body.

I think the same would go for any other virus that might have been in the ';stuff';. I'm assuming you mean semen by ';stuff.'; You are probably fine, other than being grossed out. Did you complain to the management where the soap dispenser was?
If soap sits to long or is in a hot room it can get runny and slimy and also change colors and smells. NO HIV can not live in a soap dispenser. What you are talking about is this soap was either old or got hot, It can not hurt you so no worries.
    Are you that dumb?

Is it rude to tell someone to wash their hands properly with soap?

    Put it this way -

You are taking upon yourself to remind someone of something that should be automatically observed. Like - washing hands EVERYTIME should be almost second nature. I will consider it rude if someone tells another. Even a witness to this incident will embarass me.

Truth be told - I have seen many a times, many people in public areas just walk out after they do their business. I keep it to myself - and not touch the faucet handles, the door handle, paper dispensers or the like. Germs do get passed on this way. Some people just don't have that personal hygiene aspect in them. Are we going to reprimand everyone out there?

It is a social ill, but you just be observant and do yourself a favor and not remind others of what your ';high-standard'; of perfection is.

Is it rude to tell someone to wash their hands properly with soap?
Thanks for the points. But let me tell you - if this person cooks your food, then it is your hired help. You did not mention this in your Q. Now, it is different. You have every RIGHT to tell the person to wash their hands before touching food. Report Abuse
Is it rude to tell someone to wash their hands properly with soap?
Sadly I think it would be considered rude, yes.

One way to get round it would be, if you are washing your hands at the same time as they are, ask them to pass the soap. That way they've got some on their hands from touching it.

I think it is time we went back to having ';Now please wash your hands'; in every toilet block in the land.
my sister and i were at a deli counter waiting for the shop assistant to finish skewering raw chicken to be put in the spit to cook. (she had gloves on)

once she had finished she removed her gloves and then asked us what we wanted

my sister then said could you wash your hands please

the assistant looked at her most indignantly but did as she was asked.

after we had purchased our goods my sister then made a complaint against her, remarking that she was wearing gloves, but when she removed them her hands touched the area that had been on the raw chicken

the manager thanked her and said that he would send her on a refresher health and Hygiene course

like my sister said to me later the food we had purchased was cooked this women could have made us seriously ill

so the answer to your question is no its not rude to ask someone to wash their hands

if their in your home or handling your food like this women was i would insist they wash their hands
    Yes.

you shouldn't be paying enough attention to others in the bathroom to ask that, and especially if you don't really know them.
Depends on the situation. If you are in hospital and it is not done no. If it is just a gratuitous remark yes.
By not doing so, they are themselves being rude. Certainly here in the UK though, I think it would be considered rude for you to point it out.
If they are working in your kitchen, certainly not! If you see a stranger coming out of the toilet and ask them ';Have you washed your hands with soap';? Duck!
Depends who you are talking to. Family, no. Friends and other people, yes.
slightly, but then maybe they would be grateful that you told them so rather then find out by some random stranger telling them off.
It's okay with kids, but not with guests or friends.
    '; No , cleanliness is next to godliness isn't it ? ';
You shouldn't have to remind them! That is gross.
nope. helps stop the spread of germs. plus it's disgusting if you don't so go ahead and tell them
family no.. It is't your doctor or nurse, I certainly hope so.

Why do so many men feel justified in not washing their hands with soap (or not at all) after only urinating?

You pick up just as many germs handling your penis as you do by just wiping your butt. Why do so many men feel justified in not washing their hands with soap (or not at all) after only urinating?
Because touching the penis is as bad as touching your armpit, there's no fecal matter on your penis, and if you don't have any urine getting on yourself, the only thing you've touched is sweat. Why do so many men feel justified in not washing their hands with soap (or not at all) after only urinating?
Because guys think that their penis stays clean all day because it's just sitting in their boxers. So therefore their hands are clean after urinating. Guys need to pay more attention to the ';Please wash hands'; sign.
i suppose they follow the: the urine didn't touch me, i'm fine, attitude.

As for me, I'll take the soap and water thx.
maybe since they expect their girlfriend to put their mouth on it they don't think it dirty

Obviously that doesn't make it right
the answer is simple--- because their men!! i think it's disgusting.

I am breaking out in a rash on hands only after using hand soaps and dish detergent, is it an actual allergy?

I had hives for almost an entire year, not on my hands mind you but my legs and stomach. For life of me couldn't figure out where they were coming from. Finally my new ENT looked and said it sure seemed to be contact dermatitis which got me wondering. After a year of Claritin everyday, funny thing happened I stopped using the antibacterial soap that I loved from Bath %26amp; Body Works because I ran out. All of a sudden I noticed, no more hives???? I had went through changing everything to hyperallergenic soaps/detergents/fabric softerners, etc...drove myself crazy and found the offending substance myself, thank goodness!!!I am breaking out in a rash on hands only after using hand soaps and dish detergent, is it an actual allergy?
it might be because you actually might be allergic. or you might just be allergic to a product that is contained in that detergent or soap.I am breaking out in a rash on hands only after using hand soaps and dish detergent, is it an actual allergy?
It may be an allergy. Hand soap makes my son's hands break out. He uses Dove Free for sensitive skin.
Sounds like contact dermatitis and can be caused by many many things. Lots of household cleaners have formaldehyde, parabens, and other icky things that cause skin rashes. You just have to learn which brands to avoid. Start by reading labels. Avoid anything with formaldehyde, paraben, lanolin, or dyes or fragrances. These are all common ingredients and also commonly cause skin problems. I am going to give you a link to read an article about the hazards of formaldehyde and a link to a vanicream skin soap I use that doesn't have formaldehyde. You can see if your local drug store carries it. To wash your dishes, see if you can find a soy-based cleaner at your natural foods store. I use the Enviro-Rite brand. Not only does it not have those chemicals that mess up your hands and are toxic to the body, it also doesn't have any fake colors....ewwww
I have a very severe allergy to citric acid, it is used as a preservative in loads of items, and its in Joy dish soap to smell good or what ever. so it may be as simple as that, and by no means is it simple to live with allergies
You may have an allergy or sensitivity to one of the ingredients

Do you apply soap and then rinse your hands, or do you rinse your hands, apply soap, and then rinse again?

rinse, soap, rinse......and you forgot dry!!!Do you apply soap and then rinse your hands, or do you rinse your hands, apply soap, and then rinse again?
I rinse, then soap and lather and then rinse again. I have seen people who soap before running their hands under water and I don't understand it. You have to wet hands first to get a proper lather with the soap. Soap itself doesn't lather without water. Report Abuse
Do you apply soap and then rinse your hands, or do you rinse your hands, apply soap, and then rinse again?
    rinse,soap, then rinse again
so you have nver washed your hands yet. Ok here is how it's done. Wet hands, it helps with getting the soap to lather up, wash hands for about 30 seconds, rinse, then dry. repeat before meals, and after bathroom use or any other time germ ladden items are handled
I rinse my hands first. I'd say the second one.

Normally, I would wash my hands first, apply soap and rinse again.. I suppose it's a habit and also because, if you've washed your hands then apply the soap, the soap will be more foamy. Else, the soap won't be so 'soapy'..
    rinse, soap, rinse
not that its ever anything i have thought about untill now hold on i will go wash my hands and let you know brb i turn on water put soap in hands add water lather and rinse then dry
It depends, but I usually rinse, apply soap, then rinse again.
I'd say it depends on where I am. Mostly, if I am at home I'll rinse and then use soap and then rinse again. But if I am at work with children, I most of the time put soap on first and then rinse..because I am trying to direct children and such. It all varies.
rinse, soap, rinse. Clean off any visible or slightly larger particles from hands with the first rinse and then scrub hands, nails and in between fingers well to get rid of the germs then rise to wash it all away. All done! I have worked in the medical field too long. I get classes on hand washing all the time.
Rinse, soap, rinse. I've seen people who put soap on dry hands, and it's just weird...you need to have wet hands to get the soap to lather properly and rinse the dirt/germs off.

Also, most people don't wash long enough. They think a sh*tload of soap and washing lightly for 5 seconds does it. Friction kills germs, not soap. You should wash your hands for a minimum of 20 seconds!

(Hopping down off of soap box [hah! No pun intended.]). I'm done now, thank you. (bows)
Depends on the soap I'm using. When I use liquid soap I soap and then rinse. When I use other kinds of soaps I first rinse my hands, then soap, then rinse again.
    apply soap and then rinse...

    then dry,

    repeat*
I apply soap first, so I don't drip water.
rinse -- lather -- dry and hope the door opens so i don't have to touch it to open it....
Try applying the soap first, and see how that works for ya.
I rinse, apply some soap lather and rinse. I'm not OCD but I do enjoy washing my hands.
wet my hands, soap then rinse.
I rinse my hand first then apply the soap than rinse and pat dry.
    Rinse, soap, rinse, dry.

Rinsing soap away: is it better to wash your hands with warm water or cold water?

i am constantly washing my hands because i am very ';germ-o-phobic';, but i spend most of my time trying to rinse the soap off after the initial washing. am i being too paranoid or is there something wrong with my skin? i always feel like there is still soap on my hands even after i've rinsed them for forever! i use the soap that is already foamed up for you, then i wash up and rinse with a mix of hot and cold water (both the hot and cold water is turned on at the same time). being against germs so badly makes this even worse; always feeling like i have soap on my hands after washing them is added stress. thank you for any help on this! :)Rinsing soap away: is it better to wash your hands with warm water or cold water?
it does not matter what temp the water is at to wash your hands---the soap does all the cleaning. Cold water is better for the environment, but it sounds like you may have an issue, so whatever helps you!Rinsing soap away: is it better to wash your hands with warm water or cold water?
I prefer to rinse with warm water. Instead of contstantly using soap and water, have you tried those hand sanatizers? The product completely evaporates after a few minutes and it doesn't dry you skin.
I use warm water but I guess it is whatever your preference is.

dont ever use soap on your face. It can never do any benefit to your skin rather various harmful effect will emerge.

instead use a quality cleanser. and every cleanser has instruction on their label how to use that.

mostly u have to clean your hand first very well, splash face with water, then take little cleanser into hands and work into lather and apply onto face. then gently massage. then rinse.
Ye definetly.but careful waht soap you use. It depends on you skin type. If your skin is normat to combination ,much better to use something oil free.
    Usually.

  • If you use soap to wash your hands, does the soap get dirty?

from my husband's brilliant mindIf you use soap to wash your hands, does the soap get dirty?
LoL... That's a funny question. If you use soap to wash your hands, does the soap get dirty?
no, because soap is designed to remove and not to absorb dirt from whoever who used it....
Yes, the soap actually traps the dirt and oils from your skin inside of itself and gets washed down the drain.
Yes, that why you need to wash it off.
    yes, it will!
rinse the bar of soap of after you wash your hands. if you have liquid soap, you have nothing to worry about!
    Yes.. sort of.

Put simply, the soap molecule takes the form of a salt (sodium) atom attached to a string of carbon atoms. The salt atom is hydrophilic, whereas the carbon chain is hydrophobic (repelled by water). Several soap molecules can (and will) gather near each-other when immersed in water, such that the salt molecules sit in a spherical arrangement, with all the carbon chains inside that sphere.

Dirt and grease get trapped in that sphere (micelle), which expands to contain that matter. Each micelle can only expand by a limited factor, after which it will absorb no more dirt -- it is not possible to remove an infinite amount of grease using a single bar of soap. The full micelles take on the colour of the dirt they contain, and stain the water they are suspended in. In a small twist of irony, if you do not wash the soap after you use it, this dirty soap/water suspension will make the actual bar of soap dirty.
    Yes, if it's bar soap.

The best way to avoid ';contamination by soap'; is to use a liquid. (But don't touch the pump nozzle with your newly-clean hands!)
yes it does, always wash it after you wash your hand. or else, use liquid soap.
Yes it would, l always use liquid soap for this reason.
not if you rinse it under the tap
yes the soap gets dirity. try looking at a bar of soap after doing repairs on the car :)
    Yes, it does.

A simple rinse will clean it up though.

For everyday living, how much time do you need to spend rubbing the soap on your hands and how much should you use?How much time should you take to wash your hands and how much soap should you use?
    Here goes:

    1) rinse hands under water until wet

    2) add soap, enough for a good lather (it will vary depending on the soap)

    3) rub hands together and don't forget the area between the first finger and thumb and the fingertips and between fingers. How long to rub them? Long enough to sing ';happy birthday';

4)Rinse hands beginning at the wrist down, so the dirty water runs down and away from the newly rinsed area.

Isn't it true that one must wash their hands with soap/warm water in order to be completely clean/sanitary?

Most public places that have restrooms including schools do not have hot water in their sinks in the restrooms. Isn't it true that one should wash their hands with soap and warm water for twenty seconds to kill the bacteria/viruses? I am curious, especially since the fall will be coming and the big thing about the flu virus (swine flu). Your comments are appreciated and thank you for them.Isn't it true that one must wash their hands with soap/warm water in order to be completely clean/sanitary?
Hot/Warm water with soap it important. However, the most important thing to get your hands clean is friction. Scrub them together really god and rinse really well. This should get you hands pretty clean. They can never be ';completely'; clean in that there are always going to be some bacteria and other things that just live on your skin naturally. Also as a side note, it has been shown that antibacterial soap is causing some antibacterial resistance much like people who do not use all of their antibiotic medicine which results in the strongest bacteria living and multiplying. So my vote is to nix the antibacterial soap and just use regular soap, hot/warm water, and lots of friction.Isn't it true that one must wash their hands with soap/warm water in order to be completely clean/sanitary?
We actually did an experiment in Biology where we grew samples on agar of someone's hand which had been

    1. Unwashed

    2. Washed in cold water

    3. Cold water + soap

    4. Hot water

    5. Hot water + soap

There was a significant different in how much bacteria grew on the agar, hot water plus soap definitely being the most sanitary. The heat is needed to kill the bacteria - in industry heat is used to sterilise and give things long shelf life e.g. Ultra Heat-Treated milk. So, hot water and soap is better if not completely sanitising.
You always need to wash your hands--often and thoroughly. Soap and water won't remove EVERYTHING, but it cuts down immensley on whatever is there. Keep your house clean, avoid crowed places. Like go to Walmart at 3:00am when all the ';dust'; has settled. Wipe your cart handles. STOCK UP! Buy everything you can for the Winter, and don't go running to stores for every little thing. Stay out of them as much as you can. You can get buy with trips to the grocery store and gas station, and limit trips to bigger stores. Hibernate and isolate--REALLY.
The 20-second thing is what I was told too. I actually counted to 20 out loud when I was little. Now I sing to 20.

But Jamiir has me worried that I'm not doing enough! Steamy hot water? Now I have to SCALD the germs off me? Well, I'm glad I read that! It's not even 9am and I've already learned something new today. I need to work lyrics about steamy water into my ';Cleansing To Twenty'; song!
from working in the health Field i can tell you that you need steam and high heat to become sanitary. the soap in most public places and schools arent even anti-bacterial.

    Hand sanitizers vs Soap

Can I use a hand sanitizer such as purell as a permanent substitute for washing my hands with good ol soap and water?Hand sanitizers vs Soap
Sanitizers kill germs but don't remove debris. Therefore, whatever (dirt, grease, etc.) you have on your hands is likely to remain on your hands, until you wash it off. Also, sanitizers are indiscriminate and will kill off beneficial germs as well and there are some things that can still make a person ill or cause an allergic reaction even if they have been disinfected.Hand sanitizers vs Soap
Technically yes. But I find that it dries out your skin a lot more than soap because it's alcohol based. You also won't get any debris off your hands using a sanitizer. So no, I wouldn't suggest it as a permanent substitute... you'd fry your hands.

    U GUYS ROCKWhat's a good storyline for a hand-written soap?
It seems to me that story-lines in most soaps aren't about life-and-death adventures, but about emotional adventures -- love, betrayal, deceit, remorse, revenge, etc. A meets B, falls in love, Chas an affair with A, unknown to B, then B finds out, has an affair with D, just to get even, etc. etc. And since the plots are never actually resolved, you can get characters in any messes you likeWhat's a good storyline for a hand-written soap?

both are soap and can clean. If dish washing liquid didn't clean, would you use it on your dishes %26amp; pots %26amp; pans?

I have heard that antibacterial soap didn't clean any better than regular soap. It's true that the influx of antibacterial cleaners seems to have overtaken many areas, but you're right to question whether or not you need to use antibacterial cleaners in your home.

According to many studies, regular soap or detergent and water is enough to wash away dirt, bacteria, and viruses. Proper handwashing doesn't need the added benefit of a antibacterial cleaner, to thoroughly clean hands. The same is true for your home. Regular cleaning with soaps and detergents will remove much of the harmful bacteria and viruses.

One of the problems with the use of antibacterial cleaners is that, to be effective, they need to be left on the surface for up to two minutes before being wiped away. Many people are not patient enough to allow the antibacterial cleaners to have time to work.

Antibacterial cleaners do not kill the viruses that are responsible for many common illnesses.

Another issue in the use of antibacterial cleaners is that some germs are actually beneficial to our health. Some experts worry that completely wiping out all traces of germs will mess up a healthy balance of bacteria with humans.

Despite these concerns about the use of antibacterial soap, there is no solid evidence that using antibacterial cleaners is leading to antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria. In fact most health officials believe that the widespread misuse of antibiotics, not antibacterial cleaners is to blame for antibiotic resistant bacteria.

There are benefits to antibacterial cleaners. While washing with soap and water removes a lot by itself, proper use of antibacterial cleansers does reduce the amount of bacteria further for a short span of time, which may be a help in households where someone is ill or has immune problems.

Overall, proper food handling and handwashing techniques along with regular cleaning with soap or detergent and water should be enough to keep your family healthy. Families who wish to use antibacterial cleaners should not worry that their use will lead to antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria, but should follow the instructions to fully utilize the antibacterial properties. Is their a difference when you wash your hands with anitbacterial soap and dish liquid?
Antibacterial Soap tends to dry your skin, while Dishwashing Liquid tends to soften your skin.
    Hi,

The compound mix in these two products r quite different. One thing i know is antibacterial soap or hand-wash liquid is certainly not as harsh as dish liquid on ur hands. In fact, most new products mix in moisturizing ingredients into their compounds. My advise is do all ur cleaning first(cos all cleaning work still leaves behind a residue or small trace of bacteria on ur hands) %26amp; once u r done, then the last step is to wash ur hands w/ antibacterial handwash 2 get rid of the bacterial/residue %26amp; at the same revitalize ur hands.
Dish liquid is not make for your hands. Antibacterial soap is only a temporary fix until you can use regular soap and water.
No difference, only the price. Its a big con.

Why do they say the best defense against swine flu is washing your hands with antibacterial soap?

Doesn't antibacterial soap just kill bacteria? The flu is a virus. Why do they say the best defense against swine flu is washing your hands with antibacterial soap?
lol. Its funny how some people think. antibacterial soap is actually bad for you, it kills off the good bacteria that you need which fights off the bad bacteria. Why do they say the best defense against swine flu is washing your hands with antibacterial soap?
Yeah, it kills bacteria, but it also washes off the virus. The reason it is a good thing is because if you touch something or somebody and get live virus on you, then, if you touch your eyes, nose, or mouth then you will have put the virus exactly where it wants to be to start growing inside you and give you a flu infection. So the more you wash your hands (to a point of course) the less likely you will be to get the flu. You can inhale sneezes too so it doesn't completely protect you though...
washing your hands kills viruses and bacteria and it doesn't matter if you use antibacterial soap or regular soap. just wash your hands. period. oh, and try not to touch your nose, mouth or eyes, because no amount of washing will kill everything.

  • How do I remove minwax w/ polyurethane from my hands? I tried soap and it didn't come off?

I use one of those kitchen scrubber pads to take paint, varnish, etc off my hands, I never wear gloves and I am always into something. You can try some paint thinner first to soften it up, but it usually comes right off with a scrubber pad and a bit of Lava soap. How do I remove minwax w/ polyurethane from my hands? I tried soap and it didn't come off?
Paint thinner. If you don't have that in the house nail polish remover or even lighter fluid. How do I remove minwax w/ polyurethane from my hands? I tried soap and it didn't come off?
Ugh. Polyurethane is plastic, so you've essentially got plastic all over your hands. I might try turpentine or any other paint stripper I had in my garage, but you're probably stuck (no pun intended) with the plastic on your hands until it wears off.

Having learned the hard way, I always wear disposable gloves when I work with polyurethane.

    Good luck!
Try a product such as Oophs or if you have some handy, fingernail polish remover.
Mineral Spirits, the same thing you use to clean the poly out of your brush.

    Renaissance Festival Hand Made Soap??????????

Does anyone know where the renaissance festival soaps are outside the festival. The one i want is the one that was handing out free sample bars. Renaissance Festival Hand Made Soap??????????
You can make soap yourself quite easily from spent cooking oil and the RIGHT AMOUNT of caustic soda. The right quantity is one mole of oil to three of sodium hydroxide. Add the lye to rainwater, wait for it to dissolve, then stir it gradually into the oil for about half an hour, then leave it to stand for about a week. You will get fantastic quality soap that way, and it was basically how it was made then, though with wood ash. Don't put too much soda in though or it will burn your skin.

    Uh...

No, can't ever say that's happened.

What's weird? When all the donkey flies appear as zulu tribesmen in your mexican restaurant... and not a single peppermint robot is there to help you.

That's weird... yours is just... sticky.
My fantasy is to wake up with a beautiful woman ';down there'; and I'm between sleep and awake.

What is the other .1% of germs and bacteria common hand soaps can't kill?

Almost every single soap I have seen say that they kill 99.9% of germs and bacteria, but whats being left out? It's bothered me for quite a while now. What is the other .1% of germs and bacteria common hand soaps can't kill?
the bacteria that have already come in contact with the antibacterial soap, and due to a random genetic mutation, are immune to the soap. What is the other .1% of germs and bacteria common hand soaps can't kill?
I think your question is good, it has always bothered me aswell when I buy detergents, soaps or disenfectant and it says it will only kills 99.9% germs...Why not the other 1%....
Good question.. and why haven't the scientists thought of this yet... I mean... why should us consumers buy soap that only kills 99.9% of germs. We have higher standards!!!
That is a good question. I have never thought about it but now I can not stop thinking about it..HAHA! I hope you get some good answers on here.
those sneaky little buggers under your nails.
    Finally !!!: An interesting question
You mean to tell me that .1 % has as you say bothered you!

Who needs to get a Life!!!??
Because no one can claim that any anti bacterial is 100 %

effective. No soap is 100 % perfect, even Ivory says it

    99.9% pure. Not 100, but only 99.9.

    No proof.
The protien shell does not break down under normal conditions. Staff is known to be resistant and ultra violet radiation is used.

The micro world is unsafe sex heaven: microbs commonly transfer packets of dna/rna in colonies. So traits are transmitted to un'related' germs. 1 messed up dominant gene is the cause of the kink in the end of most cheetahs tails.

PS. Atlanta CDC ws called on me! due to bacteria anomally. Go figure.

How do you make your own bath and hand soaps?

i would like to make my own bath and hand soaps for a fun project to do when im bored or with friendsd can anyone tell me where i can buy a cut or what is essential to making soap??

:]How do you make your own bath and hand soaps?
    Water Softening Fizzy

    1 cup Baking soda

    1/2 cup Citric acid

    1/2 cup corn starch

2-1/2 tablespoons oil ( I use a combo of grapeseed and almond, but you can use any liquid oils)

    3/4 tablespoon Water

2 teaspoons essential or fragrance oils

    1/2 teaspoon Borax

Spray bottle filled with Witch hazel

Mix the baking soda, citric acid and corn starch until well blended.

In a separate bowl combine cooking oil, water, essential oil, and borax. Mix well. Drizzle wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, pouring with one hand and squishing it together with the other.

Pack into candy or soap molds. I use a circular 2 oz. soap mold with a flower pattern on the top (it's tooooo hard to unmold anything with squared corners). Pack it in really hard, then immediately flip it over and tap it out onto a lined cookie sheet. When all are done, lightly mist with witch hazel and let dry overnight.

Next day, turn over and mist the bottoms with witch hazel. Let dry another day. The witch hazel forms a crust on the outside that keeps them from cracking and falling apart, although they're still a little fragile. Don't make them when it's damp outside, high humidity makes it much harder to do.

    Basic Bath Bomb Recipe

    Gather your ingredients:

    • 1 part citric acid

    • 2 parts baking soda

    • Witch hazel

    • Coloring of your choice

    • Fragrance oil of your choice

    • Dome Shaped Mold

BLEND BLEND BLEND BLEND the citric acid and baking soda – this step is super important – if you don’t blend well, you end up with a grainy bomb. We actually use a mixer on our larger batches.

Once you’ve blended really well, add your colorant. Dry pigments or a specialty bath fizzy colorant like La Bombes work best – don’t add too much though – the color shows up once you add the witch hazel.

Add fragrance oils to your personal nose preference.

Now, this is the difficult part. Spritz (with a squirt bottle) the witch hazel onto your batch while stirring with the other hand. When your batch sticks together when squished, you need to start putting it in molds – time is of the essence. If you wait too long, the mixture will get hard. If you spritz too much, the mixture will be too wet and “grow” (start the fizzing reaction) on you.

Put the bombs in molds – wait a few minutes and tap them out. Let them air dry for 3 or 4 hours and voila! Wonderful, hard bath bombs. The harder you pack the bath bombs, the more dense, heavy, and durable bomb you will get.
