Are anti-bacterial soaps and hand sanitizers helpful or harmful ?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), antibacterial soaps are not necessary, but washing your hands thoroughly with ordinary soap and warm water is one of the most effective ways to ward off infection.

Some bacteria actually benefit us.

The antibacterial components of soaps need to be left on a surface (skin) for about two minutes in order to work. Are anti-bacterial soaps and hand sanitizers helpful or harmful ?
i'd say both. for one i feel like the whole ';anti-bacterial'; hype was just a way to make soap cool again. Isnt all soap anti-bacterial? isnt that why we use soap? to get rid of bacteria? so you mean to tell me all the soap not labeled anti bacterial isnt anti bacterial? of course it is !! its all a hype.

but i do know that the liquid antibacterial tends to have more alcohol in it which dries out your skin so id say thats more harmful

but on the other hand anti bacterial items labeled as such, do nowadays have a teensie bit more bacterial fighting power sometimes. so in that case i guess theres no such thing as too much ant bacterial anything.

this was a weird question! lol!
